BENCH-TOP RESTORATION
In these video episodes Rob re-flattens and restores the top of his hand-tool workbench. The workbench is the hand-tool woodworkers most important tool and the top of the workbench must be perfectly flat so it can be used as a reference surface. The problem is that wood moves with temperature and humidity changes so any traditionally made workbench will go “out of flat” and must be re-flattened back to a reference surface. It’s a task that needs to be done every couple of years, assuming you have a traditionally laminated wood bench-top.
